A standard IDE cable is about a buck Jumper the hard drive as the master & the cdrom as the slave & run them both off the same IDE channel. I would be inclined to remove the hardrive and put it in an other machine and copy the cab files from the cd on to the hard drive, put the drive I have tried everything you suggested but nothing, could not reformat the hard drive though - not enough memory or internal stack error. If the computer will not boot without the boot disk, there are a couple of things you can try next. I'm reinstalling windows for the second time in two weeks and didn't have this problem the first time. It doesn't even attempt to read the cdrom (the light doesn't come on and it doesn't spin up). All so E:\>dir enter I get same ERROR.

Use this disk to boot the blank computer. Save file and exit. That is the only reason I am as far as I am now, without the bootdisk I can't even get anywhere but BIOS settings. echo.
