Somebackground processes can cause issues that prevent applications like iTunes from installing. This is closer than I've been before to making this thing work!!! Worked like a charm. In Windows 8, go to the Search charm, type restore point, and select Create a restore point.

THANK YOU!! Finally fixed it for me, such a bloody hassle. If you installed security software and are having issues installing iTunesfor Windows, you might need todisable or uninstall security softwareto resolve the issues. Microsoft had no idea, nor did my IT man.
Looks like I will be busy for the next week or two.I asked Microsoft Support for assistance and all I got was:Try upgrading to Windows 10 and you will no longer Then I could not get Windows update to work, and got the message indicated above. I've tried & tried a bunch of things to get passed this, but no matter what, I get the same error message & cannot install updates. I did them in groups of ten or more grouping by type.
